WDIV reporter Larry Spruill, who came to Detroit in 2018 and did his first live shot during a winter storm, is calling it quits. His last day is Friday.

He writes on Facebook:

No, I can't announce what's next ... just yet ... but I promise I will soon here on my social media.

But to all of the Detroiters, who watched me every night, trusted me to tell their stories, those who said hi to me, when they saw me, the e-mails. Thank you!

To those of you, who supported me over the years, commented on my stories I posted, you literally pushed me and helped me grow. I Thank you! I’ll be honest there were good and bad times over the last four years but I learned and appreciated all of those experiences.

Spruill writes there's "no other news market like the Motor City."

The son of a retired chief of the United States Air Force, he graduated from Valdosta State University in Georgia with a degree in mass media and worked at WJAX in Jacksonville, Fla., before joining WDIV, his station bio says.

We first saw this story in the Detroit Free Press.
