Detroit Congressman Shri Thanedar posted a message on social media Friday calling for the impeachment of Donald Trump for defying a unanimous Supreme Court ruling that ordered the U.S. to return a Maryland man, Kilmar Abrego Garcia, from an El Salvador prison.
"I've seen enough," Thanedar posted on X. "Donald Trump is not abiding by a lawful Supreme Court ruling. As a member of Congress, I fully support impeaching him. NOW."
"Donald Trump's open defiance of a lawful Supreme Court order is an impeachable offense. The House of Representatives should initiate impeachment proceedings against the President. The future of our nation depends on it."
Trump has twice been impeached but the U.S. Senate failed to convict.
Republicans have been fearful of going up against him.
Even Republican Lisa Murkowksi of Alaska said recently:
"We are all afraid. It's quite a statement. But we are in a time and place where I certainly have not been before. All I'll tell ya, I'm oftentimes very anxious myself about using my voice, because retaliation is real. And that's not right."
