Last year, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer praised Bollinger Motors, an Oak Park-based electric vehicle start-up, when it rolled out its first “customer-ready” electric trucks.

"Bollinger Motors has once again decided to bet on Michigan as they lead the future of class-4 electric commercial trucks,” Whitmer said. “From their headquarters in Oak Park, the company designs, builds, and tests their cutting-edge tech in America, and I am proud that the Michigan Economic Development Corporation has worked with them to create even more good-paying jobs right here in our state.”

On Saturday, the start-up closed for good, according to the Detroit Free Press.

"We received word late last night that the day has arrived, we are to officially close the doors of Bollinger Motors, effective today, November 21st, 2025," said an email from Bollinger's Human Resources Director, Helen Watson that was sent out.
