The Home Bakery on Main Street in downtown Rochester is at it again.
Last year, it generated a headline-grabbing cake of Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown standing on his head in the end zone.
Now, they’ve just unveiled a cake displayed in their front window of the Superman–Spiderman pose made famous this season by Detroit Lions’ Amon-Ra St. Brown and running back Jahmyr Gibbs against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The bakery, in a press release, says the "large-scale installation represents over 400 hours of work by a team of 24 bakers and artists, blending pastry art, sculpture, and storytelling. Built entirely in-house, the display required 8 cases of Rice Krispie treats, 4 sheet cakes, a substantial amount of buttercream, lol, and 65 pounds of fondant to complete."
“This window isn’t about a game or a season, it’s about people,” Heather Tocco, owner and master cake artist of The Home Bakery, said in the release. “We saw firsthand how something as simple as a window could bring strangers together, spark conversations, and create joy. That sense of community is something Detroit does better than anywhere else.”
The Home Bakery plans to keep the display up through the end of February, though it is encouraging people to come see it sooner rather than later because the natural sunlight will cause some of the colorful cake to fade.
